Project background

Women from socially disadvantaged environments continue to encounter considerable disadvantages on the job market. They are affected by unemployment and are often inadequately qualified, which makes their participation in social and economic life difficult. In particular, women who move from rural areas to urban cities represent an especially disadvantaged group.

From an economic point of view, it seems opportune to find possibilities and methods of integrating this target group into the working world. Furthermore, the integration of disadvantaged women is a sociopolitical responsibility, since equal opportunities are the key to overcoming poverty.

Objective

The project “I’m here” is an educational partnership within the EU program GRUNDTVIG, and aims to initiate an international exchange of experiences and ideas between vocational education organizations regarding this topic. In doing so, the focus is on how to pave the way to equal economical and social opportunities for the different groups of disadvantaged women. The main focus is on the integration and support of women in vocational education. It is a matter of which difficulties disadvantaged women have to enter the job market and which approaches exist in the project partners’ countries for solving this problem. In this way, awareness for the needs and difficulties of the target group is generated and adequate measures for improving the situation are discussed.
