iKulT - Intercultural training modules for SME’s for the promotion of mobility and knowledge transfer

Project duration: 24th October 2007 to 23rd October 2009

Coordinator: Stiftung Bildung & Handwerk, Germany

Background

In view of globalisation and internationalisation, intercultural skills are gaining more and more importance in the European job world. For numerous reasons, companies have to and want to increasingly orientate themselves internationally. This is reflected in the composition of their own workforce which differs more and more often from their cultural background and nationality. Additionally, their own employees must be able to find their way in the international scene. Knowing how to behave in intercultural situations is a basic condition for success.

Aim

In view of this background, intercultural, technology-supported training modules for people interested in mobility and for employees of SME’s are being developed with the iKulT project and tested in selected institutions of the participating countries. At the same time, a concept of certification of skills that can be acquired in intercultural training is being developed and implemented.

Target groups

Target groups are:
1.) apprentices and advanced vocational training course participants and skilled workers in the countries participating in the project who are interested and willing to move.
2.) Skilled workers and managers of SME’s.
